Bullet PR hosted the first ‘Social Media Junction’ conference and workshop at SkyCity convention centre in Auckland on 17th and 18th May.
With a varied line-up of international and local speakers, the conference attracted over 250 delegates over the two days.
The first day covered Social Media strategy, featuring thought leaders and best-practice case studies. The keynote speaker was Julien Smith, co-author of the New York Times best-selling book, ‘Trust Agents’ and one of the early pioneers of podcasting. Julien delivered an excellent start to the conference, outlining why Social Media is so important to modern-day business practice and what it takes to make your brand both memorable and trustworthy online.
During the rest of day one, the audience heard from a wide range of practitioners, including Mike Hickinbotham from Telstra Australia, Aisha Hillary from SBS TV and Andrew Cordwell from MySpace.
There was also a blogger panel and local practitioners panel, including Air New Zealand and Vodafone, offering their top tips and sharing the lessons they have learnt in implementing Social Media.
Day two was a workshop with Andy Beal, founder of MarketingPilgrim.com, CEO of Trackur.com and one of the world’s foremost experts on online reputation management.
Also the author of a best-selling book (‘Radically Transparent’), Andy walked the delegates through a complete lesson in how to ensure Google shows your brand in a positive light.
The feedback gathered from the conference was hugely positive and there is certain to be a similar event next year, so watch this space!
